Nicely Crafted, Old Metal Grasshopper (Japanese Okimono?) faper folding There is a bit ofIt seems to me likely that this grasshopper is Japanese, made in the tradition of "Okimono" insects crafted by makers of Samurai armour and given as tokens of good luck. (One photo example included very similarly crafted to this one.) Whatever the case, nicely done, and clearly with a good bit of age to it and of course grasshoppers as the luckiest insects of all, representing good fortune as well as happiness and joy. 3 5 8" l x 1 1 16" t x 7 8" w
