And with a good amount of wear around the perimeter, suggesting a good lot of handling, and the birds facing in every direction, I might guess it served a functional purpose, perhaps as a lid (or as a print block?) I am not sure. The wood is old, pine I believe, and the manner of the hand carving makes it feel like my favorite sort of drawing. Highly
