These low budget runabouts were of simple construction and could be easily maintained. Captain John Valentine Carden began experimenting with light car design in 1913. The first completed vehicles were very crude, having no gears or clutch. By 1919, however, mechanical improvements led to an increase in orders. At the height of their popularity,
