Portrait of Jean-Andre de Luc (1727-1817) Mary Banks Collected by Robert MalletHead and shoulders portrait of an elderly De Luc dressed in a dark suit, balding but with long white hair to the shoulders. Inscribed in pencil '1773' and 'J A de Luc' lower left and right respectively. Inscribed verso: 'J A De Luc F. R. S. [chemist struck through] Geologist 3 6' Jean Andre de Luc was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1773. Original: stipple engraving. Early 19th century
