Striking Signed Inuit Black Stone Duck trompe l'oeil who worked as a metalsmithI find the form of this one so beautiful, with the neck and body forming a nearly perfect 90 degree angle, like a perfectly bent elbow, and then almost an exact 45 degree angle could be drawn from beak to tail. I have often said my favorite Inuit pieces hold multiple states or opposing gestures in harmonic balance, which I think this carving does in the most succinct way possible, body pointing straight ahead, head turned straight back. Lovely. 3 l x
