I know this came from a Midwestern farm community, and would very much bet the feathers that fill it were plucked by the person who made it, or at least a member of their family. Light weight red wool ground with cotton and wool appliqu, plus wonderfully embroidered hat and fingers and toes! I especially love the tiny white horse on red ground stitched on like a patch at his feet, suggesting our boy here
