The building was designed by Sir Edwin Cooper and built between 1912 and 1922
South elevation of the White Tower, Tower of London white house on the east side ofSouth elevation of the White Tower, Tower of London, 1815. Work on the White Tower probably began in around 1077 after William the Conqueror, having occupied London, ordered fortifications to be built. Work slowed after his death in 1087 and the White Tower was not finished until after 1100.
