I haven't totally figured out why the image of a Dutch boy in this basic pose was so popular in the earlyish 20th century

and just loved it for how mid-century it feels and for its almost manic quality

one can definitely feel the love and care of their maker

Nice Old Portable Lap Desk / Writing Box maine native basket Victorian I believeI find these old lap desks such satisfying things, with compartments underneath the velvet covered writing slope in which one might keep writing paper as well as tuck a stack of correspondence received, and then a few pens under the lid with handle at one end all ready to take anywhere. Makes me want to write old fashioned letters. Or maybe just to throw all of ones bills inside! This one no longer locks, so maybe best not to keep secret love letters
