Atmospheric Antique Oil on Wood Panel Seascape Painting, Framed 1957 This elegantI have be come so much interested in the patina on old paintings, becoming at least as much about their object hood as the image they portray. And my favorite of all is old pool paintings on wood panel; there is just an atmospheric ness and luminosity about them that is its own very special thing. This 19th century seascape is a case in point. Plenty of scattered paint loss (with underpainting showing through), which could be seen as detracting, but I
