which a little research reveals began operations in 1864

I've seen a few others of these meant to represent bunches of grapes

exposing the insides and creating the "root-like" features seen on this one

Beautifully gestural, the line they hold to barely there, and with very excellent shadows of their young bodies in the ripples on the lake. Very gentle. With a note on the back that identifies this as Hudson Lake. 5 3 8" x 3 1 2", very good condition. "Hudson Lake" written in pencil on reverse.
