I believe this would have been used for cooking as well as serving

then release and off it goes rolling

but certainly it would hold a great weight

which I think could be pretty easily vacuumed out with a dust buster

(And it feels a bit like a magic wand, too!) Of the several of these Ive come across, each has been quite different, and I think the form of this one especially lovely, including for the ball shaped end at top. Others Ive seen are most often varnished,
