Wolfgang von Trips Dodd Essex ahead of their SoccerWolfgang von Trips. In the 1961 season he won the Dutch and British Grands Prix in a Ferrari 156. He also won the Targa Florio in that year. He started the 1961 Italian Grand Prix at Monza on the verge of winning the World Championship. However he collided with Jim Clark's Lotus on the second lap of the race. Von Trips and 14 spectators died in the accident.
