The is a little lint that shows against the dark navy

I love how wispy and delicate it looks here

and also a 19th century tradition of carving and painting vertebrae to resemble John Wesley (1703-1791)

U. Kinsey's Toy Building Blocks in the collection of the Henry Ford Museum, dated 1875 1885, which is I believe about when these were produced.
