7 3/4" x 3 3/4" Fabric (velvet I believe) well worn but I think all the better for it

Even better to find it painted on the front door of a "cake safe" with its three original shelves inside--for storing three cakes

whose left-handedness results in the “backwards” stitch that this basket displays

Mid 19th century punch paper embroidery hand stitched to pale silk ribbon, with some toning and stains that seem perfectly suited to that nature of hope itself. Overall 6" x 1 1 2". Embroidery itself 2 3 4" x 1 1 4". Stable and sound, ribbon not brittle. Found in Massachusetts.
