it's hollow on the interior so that the ends of whatever it's holding can slip down inside

and as if it might have just been dug out of the ground

and one printed eye lost

Curious Old Stone Garden Guardian studio pottery decanter though I am not 100%Love at first sight with this guy, though I have no idea whence he came, or what is this plank, or staff, or? he holds in one fingered hand. He's definitely done some duty as a watchman of sorts somewhere, with scrapes and wear all over, especially across the nose and chin of his very marvelous face, as well as a notable blow to the back of his head.
