I have not been able to find out for sure when or where the tradition of using oil cloth for dolls began

I call it the parasite house because it requires something--a small block is perfect

part of what I love so much about these old handmade ones is their individuality

Three Sweet Old Yellow Garden Chicks haunting print I have not been ableJust charmers, better in hand, with those little painted wings and striped points really making them. Surely made to be stuck into the ground to inhabit the garden or dot the path to the chicken coop! Hand painted wood, c. 1920s 30s I would guess. Each approx 5 1 2" w x 5 1 8" t measured on the square. All in good condition, painted on both sides.
