St John's Gate on a Sunday, Clerkenwell, London oast house Plate 57 from Journal ofSt John's Gate on a Sunday, Clerkenwell, London, 1926 1927. The gate was built in 1504 by Thomas Docwra, prior of the Priory of the Knights of Saint John. It served as the south entrance to the inner precinct. Part of the building is now used as a museum of the Knights Hospitallers and the St John's Ambulance Brigade.
