Praying Couple and Santo Nino: Antique Mexican Folk Art Ex Voto Retablo on Tin magic lantern slides I'd just prop this oneIt's been a little while since I've had a ex voto retablo painting in the shop they seem to be getting evermore precious and hard to come by so I was especially glad to find this beauty in southern Maine this week. Perfectly succinct but full of feeling, with all focus on the thankful couple kneeling beside their simple bed, praying to the Santo Nio de Atocha (Christ child) who floats on a cloud at upper left. Wonderfully painted figures I especially
