Hill, World Champion in 1962 and 1968, drove the Lotus 49Bto victory in the race, his 5th win at Monaco. Chapman was the founder of Lotus Engineering Co, which built both road, Formula 1 and other competition sports cars. The Lotus team won seven Formula 1 Constructors' and six Drivers' World Championships between 1963 and 1978.
