Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, surrounding a raised inscription of FR TREUES WIRKEN IN EISERNER ZEIT 1914 (FOR FAITHFUL WORK IN IRON TIMES 1914), the reverse bearing a central raised monogram of Prince Heinrich XXVII, unmarked,
