Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Lilies Cross, the obverse with an inscription of FR PFLEGE DER SOLDATEN 1870 (FOR THE CARE OF SOLDIERS 1870), the reverse with an inscription of DEN 25TEN AUGUST 1870 around a central monogram of Grand Duke Ludwig III, measuring 43. 09 mm (w) x 47. 24
