The document states that Oberleutnant (Senior Lieutenant) Erich Krger is promoted to Hauptmann (Captain), effective March 1, 1940. The document is dated to February 29, 1940 and signed in blue ink by the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Generalfeldmarschall Walther von Brauchitsch, a recipient of the Knights Cross.
