Bagnigge Wells, St Pancras, London feline The woman on the right'A Bagnigge Wells Scene, or No Resisting Temptation', Bagnigge Wells, St Pancras, London, c1780. Two women in elaborate costumes and large hats; one picks flowers, perhaps a metaphor for sex. The other looks sidelong at her in a knowing way. Bagnigge Wells was a popular spa which thrived from 1760 to the end of the eighteenth century and had a reputation for 'loose women and boys whose morals are depraved'.
