Oman, Sultanate. An Oman General Service Medal, C.1960 United Republic of " with the maker stamp(Midal al Khidmat al Alamat), Instituted in 1959. 1 Clasp Dhofar. In bronze gilt, measuring 36. 5 mm in diameter, edge nicks, bruised, contact marks, original ribbon with pinback, near very fine. Footnote: The Oman General Service Medal (Midal al Khidmat al Alamat) was instituted by Sultan Said bin Taimur in 1959, as a reward for general military service. This issue was originally intended to serve as a multi purpose Omani GSM for service of at least
