At the Battle of Ramillies, during the War of the Spanish Succession, a British Dutch German army under the Duke of Marlborough defeated a French army under the Duc de Villeroi at Ramillies Offus near Namur. The victory cleared the French from the Spanish Netherlands and led to the capture of Antwerp, Bruges, and Ghent.
