He had been experiencing fainting spells while in England and was admitted to Helena Hospital Shorncliffe on September 6th with "Syncopal attacks"
He further volunteered his services as bomb carrier to a squad of another Regiment which had been detailed to make an attack on an enemy trench
Although it took place during the First World War
