Constructed of a dark blue cotton rayon blended cloth base, the exterior bearing a central machine embroidered golden yellow Ordnungspolizei insignia in the form of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon and overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by an inscription of KSTENWACHE (COAST GUARD) and situated above an inscription of OST
