Constructed of silver, the obverse consisting of an oval disc with a pebbled border, bearing a central raised German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, topped by an inscription of DEUTSCHES REICH (GERMAN EMPIRE) and above an inscription of ELBLOTSE (ELBE PILOT), the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, stamped with an issue number of 163, marked with a silver
