Coushatta Pine Needle Basket with Sculptural Handle hand-painted porcelain Unmarked but I believe JapaneseOver time, I've acquired (and happily sold!) a few different Coushatta pine needle baskets, but this one, with its dramatically twisting handle, may just be my favorite. The Coushatta are a matrilineal society native to Southwest Louisiana and are renowned for their wonderful baskets made of coiled pine needles and raffia. In addition to the fabulous handle, this one features a lovely little woven raffia detail at the very center of the base
