Hand-Carved Nepalese Bhairab Mask Ornaments_&_Figurines Handwoven on a traditional backstrapThis fearsome mask depicts Bhairab, a wrathful manifestation of Shiva known for his protective power. The carving features a fierce expression, bulging eyes and a crown of skulls, all hand painted in striking colours. A hook on the back allows for easy hanging. In Hindu and Newar traditions, Bhairab symbolises the destruction of ignorance and the protection of sacred spaces. The name comes from the Sanskrit root bhiru meaning fearsome, referring to
